The BCYC Board of Directors

From the Commodore:
If you would have told me twenty years ago that I would be
Commodore of a Yacht Club, I would have laughed hysterically. I
thought Yacht Clubs were stuffy organizations, more about one's
rightful place in "Society" than about boating. Of course, you would
need an impressive vessel to "wow" the "ordinary folk".
When it comes to the Boyne City Yacht Club, nothing could be farther
from the truth. When Lynn and I moved here in 1993, we were far from
all of our families and friends. Yes, we had nice neighbors and were
properly welcomed by the local "Welcome Wagon" but we weren't a
part of the Community. When I inquired about all those boats I saw
racing on Tuesday nights, I was surprised to find that anyone could
race; even me with my old twenty foot sailboat, "Pucker Up!". Yes, we
would have to join the Yacht Club but that would only cost $15(at that
time)and all I had to do was sign up. I didn't even need to interview or
provide references!
Let's just say "Pucker Up!" wasn't the fastest boat on the Lake. That
didn't matter, we were welcomed by all the racers at the local watering
hole. Lynn and I were pleasantly surprised when we attended our first
social event as well, everyone treated us like we belonged.
In the years since, I have learned how lucky I am to be involved in such
a Club. Many of my friends who belong to other Clubs have remarked on
how we are a fun Club, without the Sail vs. Power "Squadron" mentality
that exists elsewhere. At the end of the day, we all love the same
things; Boating, the Lakes, and Boaters! (and we don't even require
ownership of a boat) By combining those three things in our Social
Events, we are all alike.
If you have suggestions about the Club, I'd love to hear them. I think
you'd find the same attitude in our Board Members.
If you are not a Member but think you'd like to join a Club that is "Not
Your Typical Yacht Club", then you have found the right place. Go to the
"Club Info" page and sign up. You will be welcomed, just as Lynn and I
were years ago, into this great Community!
I wish you all fair seas and a following breeze.

P.S. Please allow me to introduce your Board of Directors below. They
are all fine people giving their free time to make their (and your) Yacht
